Happy Thanksgiving 2013!!

last year, i remember climbing Mt. Seymour with my friends, Blynn and Phil (this blog: Happy Thanksgiving!). today, my two good friends went to Hollyburn Mountain at the North Shore for a 7km mountain trail hike, and unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control, i was not able to join them.

my dear husband and i stayed home to spend our thanksgiving holiday, watched marathon of “Three’s Company”, my favorite sitcom during my teenage years, and just enjoyed the day together.

what is this holiday anyways? asking my neighbor what their activity will be, she shrugged and said, “it’s just another ordinary day, nothing really special”…

hmmm, in part, she’s right, and on the other hand, it is also good to have a special day to remember everything we have to be thankful for. however, giving thanks to God on a daily basis is way much better, don’t you think?

each day, we go on with our lives the way we are so used to. we often remember to acknowledge or thank God only for all the good things that happen, and when things go awry, we get disappointed, depressed, unfulfilled, and then forget the One who can help lift us up. actually, we should also be thankful to God for our mistakes and unmet expectations. These are actually His tools to help us improve ourselves and it is one way He uses for us to ask what He wants to happen, to seek His approval, to find our purpose.

whether we aced the job or stumbled a bit, it is good to give thanks to God because He knows everything about us, and He never gives us anything that we will never be able to handle.

here’s wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving…  happy counting our blessings!!!

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18
